chimera.uchime on linux windows 10

Post by kmitchell » Tue Dec 19, 2017 6:43 pm

Hi Sarah and Pat

I'm running a mothur workshop this week and we've only hit one issue! We're getting segmentation faults when we try to run chimera.uchime on windows 10 computer running the linux subsystem. The rest of the SOP seems to be running well and having novice users install the subsystem and mothur was so much easier than having them install a vm. so that's all good.

thanks

Kendra

Could the wrong uchime executable be the issue? There are different version for Windows and Linux. Could you run the command in debug mode and see what mothur is sending to uchime?

mothur > set.dir(debug=true)
mothur > chimera.uchime(...)

sorry I didn't get a chance to try that out. When are you planning on releasing the next version? if it's going to be soon, I'll wait to test out the new version on the linux subsystem
