Downloading an executable version of mothur is the easiest and fastest way to get started. Please join the mothur email list. This is a newsletter format so you will only receive an email from us about once a month or so.

Mac executable

We have compiled mothur v.1.25.0 on Mac OS X 10.6. Please let us know how this works for you: 

64_bit executable:  64 bit mothur for mac

We have compiled mothur v.1.25.0 on Mac OS X 10.5. Please let us know how this works for you:

Windows executable

We have compiled mothur v.1.25.0. We're pretty sure that the 32bit executable should work for XP and Vista. The 64bit executable was built on Windows 7. Please let us know how this works for you:

Linux executable

We have compiled mothur v.1.25.0 on Centos 5.5. Please let us know how this works for you:

Source code

If you want to build your own executable download the mothur 1.25.1 source code, edit the makefile Makefile_options and follow the instructions to install mothur. If you want to install the readline and openMPI libraries, then you will need to change those settings in the makefile.
